VPN Without Account Registration: How Device Licensing Works

Requiring an email account is not the only way to operate a VPN subscription. RelyVPN uses device-based licensing, so you can install the app and start without creating a RelyVPN account, entering an email address, or setting a password. This reduces registration friction and the amount of account information requested.

Account-free setup should be described precisely: a device or license identifier is still used to provide access, and payment providers retain transaction records under their own policies.

What no registration means

For RelyVPN, no registration means that the normal installation and connection flow does not ask you to create a user profile with a name, email address, and password. Support requests are optional; if you contact support, the contact details and message you provide are processed so the request can be answered.

The account-free model is separate from network and privacy disclosures. Traffic routed through the VPN is encrypted between the device and the RelyVPN gateway, while limited technical data may still be needed to deliver and protect the service.

How device licensing works

1. The app creates or receives a device or license identifier.
2. The service associates that identifier with a free or paid entitlement.
3. When the app checks access, the server verifies the entitlement without requiring an email login.
4. If a supported license is moved or shared, the license key or platform restore process authorizes the additional device, subject to the plan's device limit.

Keep license keys and backup files private. Anyone who obtains a valid key may be able to use an available device slot.

Limited data still processed

Operating an account-free service still requires some data. Depending on the feature, RelyVPN and its service providers may process a device or license identifier, subscription entitlement, connection status, traffic counters, source IP during network delivery or security checks, app and device diagnostics, website analytics, referral information, payment events, and information submitted to support.

These categories serve different purposes and may have different retention periods. The Privacy Policy explains the current purposes, recipients, retention, cross-border handling, user choices, and privacy-request methods. Avoid treating “no account” as a substitute for reading those disclosures.

Subscriptions and payments

Purchases may be handled by an app store or another payment provider. Those providers process payment and transaction information under their own policies. RelyVPN may receive a receipt, transaction identifier, payment status, product, currency, and entitlement information needed to confirm access and support a purchase.

Blockchain payments are recorded on a public ledger and should not be treated as identity-free. Wallet providers, exchanges, and network observers may have additional information. Choose a payment channel based on its actual terms and records.

Free-plan limits

RelyVPN's free plan supports one device. It includes a one-time 300 MB allowance without the free-tier 160 kbps cap; actual throughput varies by device, local network, route, server load, and destination. After the allowance is used, the free tier applies a maximum rate of 160 kbps. The current app does not display third-party banner, interstitial, or injected ads, although RelyVPN paid-plan options may still appear and product behavior can vary by version or distribution channel.
