1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small values saved by a browser. Local storage and session storage are similar browser features. Pixels, tags, software development kits, server logs, and event APIs can also recognize a browser, device, session, or action even when they do not set a cookie.
This Policy applies to relyvpn.com and its localized pages. App data practices are also described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary: security, regional availability, payment completion, and remembering a privacy choice.
- Functional: language preference and interface choices requested by the visitor.
- Analytics: understanding page use, downloads, performance, and conversion steps.
- Marketing and advertising: referral and campaign attribution, advertising measurement, and audience creation. These technologies are not necessary to use the website.
Where consent is legally required, non-essential analytics and advertising technologies are used only after the relevant choice is granted. Rejecting them does not block basic access, downloads, or purchases.
3. Current browser-storage inventory
| Name | Type and provider | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
relyvpn_consent_v1 | Local storage · RelyVPN | Records whether analytics and marketing storage were accepted or rejected, together with the choice timestamp, so the website can honor and display the current preference. | Until changed or cleared | Strictly necessary |
rv-geo | Session storage · RelyVPN API | Remembers the result of a country-availability check during the current browser session. The API receives the network request and therefore the requesting IP address. | Browser session | Strictly necessary |
relyvpn_pending_device_id | Session storage · RelyVPN | Temporarily carries the device ID entered by the visitor from pricing to the requested payment step and is removed after that step reads it. | Browser session or earlier removal | Strictly necessary |
relyvpn_lang | Local storage · RelyVPN | Remembers the language chosen from the website language menu. | Until changed or cleared | Functional |
rv_ref | First-party cookie · RelyVPN | After marketing consent, remembers a valid referral code so the selected referral discount and attribution can continue across pages. | 30 days, or until marketing consent is withdrawn | Marketing |
rely_gb_code and rely_gb_code_ts | Local storage · RelyVPN | After marketing consent, remember a group-purchase code and its saved time for attribution and an associated offer. | Used for up to 24 hours; removed on a later pricing-page check, consent withdrawal, or browser clearing | Marketing |
funnel:dedupe:* | Local storage · RelyVPN | After marketing consent, stores an event-specific expiry value to avoid sending the same eligible attribution event repeatedly. | Used for up to 24 hours; removed on consent withdrawal or browser clearing | Marketing |
xpixel:purchase:* | Local storage · RelyVPN | After marketing consent, stores a deduplication timestamp when a server-verified purchase is reported to X, preventing duplicate purchase conversions. | Used for up to 24 hours; removed on consent withdrawal or browser clearing | Marketing |
rv_confirm_* | Session storage · RelyVPN | After marketing consent, carries a short-lived server-issued token in the payment tab so a purchase is verified with our server before it is reported to X. | Payment-tab session; removed after verification, on consent withdrawal, or when the tab closes | Marketing |
_ga | First-party cookie · Google Analytics | Distinguishes browser clients for website audience and usage measurement. | Up to 2 years by default, subject to browser limits | Analytics |
_ga_P03CL0X6CS | First-party cookie · Google Analytics | Maintains session state for the RelyVPN Google Analytics property. | Up to 2 years by default, subject to browser limits | Analytics |
Cookie names and lifetimes can change when a provider updates its technology. We review this table when website measurement changes.
5. Advertising measurement
The RelyVPN website uses an X Pixel (provided by X Corp.) that loads only after marketing consent. It reports page views, download-button clicks, and purchase conversions that our own server has first verified. Purchase reports contain a server-generated anonymized conversion identifier, the amount, and the currency. We do not send plain order numbers, license identifiers, device identifiers, names, or email addresses to X, and we do not use VPN traffic contents or support messages to create advertising audiences.
The pixel stores purchase-deduplication entries in local storage for up to 24 hours, and X may set its own cookies under its own policies. Withdrawing marketing consent stops further X Pixel activity in this browser and removes those entries. You can also use X's personalized-ad controls. Before adding a mobile measurement partner, custom audiences, or a similar new advertising technology, we will update this Policy and the preference control first.
6. Your choices
- Use the website's cookie preference control to accept, reject, or change non-essential categories where it is displayed.
- Delete or block cookies, local storage, and session storage through browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary storage can affect language, regional availability, referral discounts, or payment continuity.
- Use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on if compatible with your browser.
- Use the Data Requests page to ask about event data that can be located using a device, session, license, or transaction identifier.
Withdrawing consent stops future optional collection on that browser. It does not automatically delete data already collected; use a deletion request for that purpose.
7. Retention and recipients
Browser-storage durations are listed in the table above. Server-side analytics and event data are retained only for the period reasonably needed for measurement, transaction support, security, legal compliance, and dispute handling, then deleted or de-identified. Transaction records can be kept longer where accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal obligations require it.
Recipients can include RelyTech LLC's hosting and security providers, Google Analytics, X Corp. for advertising measurement, Apple for App Store metadata and attribution, and the payment provider selected by the visitor. The Privacy Policy explains data sharing, international processing, and individual rights in more detail.
